Remember the Bullitt? The 60's movie with the Ford Mustang Variant? How about the car of the same name that existed for a very small period of time in 2008? The rare Ford Mustang Bullitt was recently spotted in a commercial shoot in Illinois.
A new Ford Mustang Bullitt was recently spotted during a film shoot for a commercial in Chicago. Images have been leaking around the internet of a 2018 Mustang wearing the signature highland green color of the Mustang that was in the classic film. That particular color isn't available for any 2018 Mustangs.
Fans have also noticed a lack of a rear spoiler and 5.0 badging. It also has a set of vintage Torq Thrust wheels in gloss black and a chrome lip. These options are also not available on the 2018 Mustang. What is Ford doing with a modified Mustang with a striking similarity to the one from the movie?
Still not convinced they might be remaking the Mustang Bullitt? Then may I direct you to the back, which reportedly features a fuel cap with the crosshair design and the word "Bullitt" across it.
With the 50th anniversary of the movie coming up, it's entirely possible that this will be a one-time promotional effort. Whether or not this car was tuned up for show, or is a purchasable option remains unknown. Though after the 2008 release of the Bullitt, it makes sense to bring it back.
We will find out more when the video being shot is publicly released. Until then, stay tuned.
