The Nissan GT-R is an absolutely beautiful car that’s worth about as much as my house. Right now there are two GT-R’s available for purchase brand new: the base model Premium which is about $110,000 and the insane NISMO that’s about 65k higher and priced around $175,000. Two models being offered with a $65,000 price gap in between is a bit crazy. Nissan recognized this and has now decided to create a middle ground between the two beasts.

Introducing the 2017 GT-R Track Edition for $129,585. Despite what the name may imply, this is not a lightweight, gutted, bare-bones vehicle here. Nissan actually chose to make this the best of both worlds between the NISMO and Premium models. The Track Edition is holding on to the same 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque engine from the Premium GT-R, but the handling and visual appearance is cranked up a notch with the inclusion of some NISMO pieces thrown in as well.

The suspension is coming from the NISMO, which is tuned by reducing the weight of that car and increasing the roll stiffness. The Track Edition also takes the NISMO 20-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels all wrapped in NISMO-spec tires, a carbon fiber spoiler, and NISMO front fenders. This car is a thing of beauty and the performance you get from it is better than exotics that cost twice as much. It’s going to make its debut at the New York Auto Show and can only be purchased via special order.
