On April 26th a 13-year-old was taken into custody by police just after 8 p.m. after stealing his brother's car in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In addition the driver, there were four other people inside the car, all juveniles. The car was originally spotted speeding down the street and an officer attempted to pull the vehicle over. It was at this time when the young driver tried to escape from the officer by taking a sharp turn down a side street.
He then lost control of the vehicle, rolled the car, and crashed it into a tree. The 13-year-old driver has been taken to a juvenile facility to be held while two other children were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. One juvenile escaped from the scene after the crash, but was found at his house about 30 minutes later. All five of the juveniles lived in Green Bay and there were no serious injuries.
Luckily, the crash wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, but this is a very avoidable incident. Whether it's keeping your keys in a hidden spot, paying attention to where everybody is, or making sure the juvenile in your house knows that it's not okay to be doing that, there's a way to prevent this from happening. While this could have caused the deaths of 5 young children, it was only minor injuries and I'm sure the 13-year-old won't be able to watch Netflix for a very long time.
