Volkswagen is looking to reinvent themselves, it seems. Now only have they updated their base logo, the automaker has a new design for their R Performance division.

The new logo, seen in the header image, will appear on R-Line and dedicated R models from 2020 onward. The first example of this will be on the Atlas Cross Sport R-Line, a smaller variant of the Atlas, sporting two rows of seats.

Jost Capito, head of Volkswagen R, explains how the new logo better aligns with the division's goals and aspirations.

“The new logo for the R models and the R-Lines also goes hand in hand with the realignment of the Volkswagen R brand. Our entire team is intensely working on the brand and product image and we are looking forward to continuing to roll these out in the coming months.”

We aren't really sure what they mean by this. It's a sleek design, something that performance vehicles have been doing for ages. Not that it matters. The important thing is how it runs on the track.
