Jaguar has set new fame as the world's quickest four-door production sedan at the most recent Nürburgring Nordschleife. A new lap record was set on the Green Hell by the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, which clocked in at 7 minutes and 21.23 seconds.

The previous record was held by the Alfa Romeo Giulia, with 7 minutes and 32 seconds. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 has exceeded this by about 11 seconds, sending the Alfa into second place, and the Porsche Panamera Turbo now holds third place with 7 minutes and 38 seconds.

The Jaguar doesn't quite compare to the Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Special, which ran the track in 6:57.5, but that car is too heavily modified to qualify as a "production" car.

A 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 with 592 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque rests under the hood of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, giving it an approximate 0-60 time of only 3.3 seconds, and speeds as high as 200 miles per hour.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 may be based on a stock XE, but a number of improvements have still been made to maximize performance. Over 75% of the mechanical hardware has been swapped out or upgrades and carbon fiber are fitted all over the vehicle. That helps keep the total weight as low as 3,847 pounds.

Production of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is being limited to only 300 units worldwide. Your chance to get on in America sings to the tune of $188,495. Better start saving now, or 5 years ago, for this beauty.
