Something new spiced up the view in the Stata Center courtyard at MIT last week, a futuristic-looking Lamborghini parked right on the walkway called Terzo Millenio.

The Terzo Millenio is a new experimental prototype by the smart people at MIT. This car was made "for the third millennium." Designed by the professor of chemistry Mircea Dinca, this vehicle is a new level of electric. Lamborghini believes the future is here, parked amidst broke college kids' path to math class.

The project was in collaboration with Lamborghini, who hopes to make its future cars operate on electricity without losing the sharpness and power that makes a Lamborghini so special. This partnership was established about a year ago and will last for 3 years. Lamborghini will also have the rights to the research made towards battery storage and materials science over this time.

Because of this, little information about how this car works is actually known. The coil system inside the wheels can be presumed to be a method of retaining kinetic energy in transportation. One interesting bit we do know comes from John Hart, associate professor of mechanical engineering. Hart talks about the idea of combining carbon fiber with composite materials to somehow make the entire body of the car be used as one large battery system.

This partnership will mean great advancements for the future of the vehicle, and the Terzo Millenio is the first marking on the wall towards that future.
