Tesla Motors has recently been involved with discussing related to their possible factory opening in Shanghai. The automaker has never opened a factory in China before, and the move could be extremely beneficial for both the motor company and the country. If Tesla were to open a Shanghai factory, China's position would be lifted even higher on the charts as a builder of electric cars, while Tesla gets the chance to showcase its vehicles in a major market.

The main reason Tesla is looking to move overseas is due to car prices. While there car models are very nice, they are quite pricey. A move to Shanghai will allow them to produce cars for less money, meaning a lower MSRP when they hit the marketplace. This is extremely important, especially in China, because the tariffs are very high on vehicle imports.

Even at their current rate in China, revenue reports from last year stated that China accounted for about 15 percent of Tesla's overall profit. In 2015, China was about 8 percent of their total profit, showing that the country is starting to really enjoy the automaker. By making a move, more cars can be sold in China with lower price tags, allowing Tesla to make an even larger name for themselves in the near future.
