Racing isn't exactly an everyman's sport. The vehicles are expensive, after all. But an organization known as Spice-X wants to resolve that. They're looking to make race cars that are not only affordable, but green too.

Spice-X isn't just one company, but a collaborative project between a number of car companies. Based in Piedmont, Italy, their main goal is to build a lightweight electric race car using inexpensive materials. Their first product, the Spice-X SX1, weighs under 1,325 pounds, measuring a modest 150.6 inches long and 66.7 inches wide. It was designed by Fabrizio Pepe of Mastery Design. At least the body was.

This single-seater will come with two electric motors, each producing 40 horsepower to the rear wheels. There will also be two electric batteries with currently unsaid kwh outputs. Depending on that stat, this car could have a top speed of somewhere between 100 mph and 130 mph. Though since Spice-X has yet to announce any official specs, we're left to speculate.

Even though they're striving for an affordable race car, no pricing has been announced for the small speedster.
