Things are looking hopeful for the king of racing movies. According to actor Vin Diesel via Instagram, there are talks of a Fast and Furious spinoff featuring a female lead character. He also stated that Hobbs & Shaw, the other spinoff, has a premiere date.

Diesel promised Universal Pictures a three-spinoff deal. He wrote a story that features a female protagonist back in 2017 and has reportedly heard the film's first pitch last week. They're looking to bring in Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet to join the writing team for the picture. Not much has been said about the film otherwise.

As for Hobbs & Shaw, a spinoff featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, is marked for theaters August 2. This is revealed from Instagram as well, but via the Rock instead. Its official title will be "Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw." But no one is going to call it that unless they have to.

So far, nothing is known about the third spinoff.

If spinoffs aren't your thing, Fast 9 is still happening. Shooting for the film begins next month, with production starting in London. Diesel claims that there will be one more film after that, establishing three films in the franchise after main actor Paul Walker passed away.
