No one knows a product better than it's creator. So who better to restore a 911 than Porsche themselves? The automaker is celebrating their 70th anniversary with a highly authentic restomod based on the classic 911.

It's called Project Gold, and Porsche is documenting the entire process on their YouTube project. The complete design will be unveiled on August 24, with a debut on September 27 for the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca.

From what we've seen so far, it appears to be a 993-Series 911 Turbo with gold accents. This even includes the wheels, which are a straight black with gold edging. We can likely expect the same black and gold theming on the interior cabin, as well.

Alas, this is essentially all we know about the project at this time. Porsche intends to keep us up to date as things develop, however. So stay tuned.

With German banks recommending classic cars as part of diversified investments, the value of 911s has soared. Restoration efforts by third-party firms like Canepa and Singer are gaining more and more business as a result. Now's certainly a good time to own a Porsche.
