You don't have to be a big-name automaker to acknowledge the changing market. Pagani only produces a handful of cars a year, but even they are pushing against automation, and towards electrification.

Pagani CEO and founder Horacio Pagani stated in an interview with elTresTV that the company has no interest in self-driving technology. Pagani considers the technology a "toy," and plans to disregard it entirely. Inversely, the company has expressed extreme interest in the electrification of vehicles, and already have their own EV in development.

According to Pagani, they have about 20 designers and engineers working on the electric car. They expect it to reach production by 2025.

Even with their faith in the field, they don't believe it will replace combustion engines. Which is why the company is also working on a successor to the Huayra. This vehicle is expected to come with a twin-turbocharged engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG.

The successor is expected to release before their electric car, and will not have any electrification. It will stand as a beacon to the classic car philosophy, even offering a manual transmission.

It will still be years before any of us see these vehicles. Until then, we will have to be happy with the Pagani Zondas and Huayra Roadsters they offer today.
