The Lamborghini Aventador won't live forever. Or the automaker doesn't plan for it to, at least. The successor is on its way, and we get our first look at it.

Currently, there are reports and rumors that Lamborghini will be transferred from Audi to Porsche. While this will result in a number of changes for the brand, including a new platform, sources are indicating that the Aventador's successor is too close to completion to be changed now.

As expected, the successor will feature a hearty helping of carbon fiber in its chassis, one of Lamborghini's design. The body itself will feature a wedge-like shape in an aggressive style.

Under the hood is expected to be a V12 engine with plug-in hybrid support, confirmed by Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali in April. When paired with a dual-clutch transmission and three electric motors (two in the front, one in the back), it'll have an estimated total output of around 1,200 horsepower. The electric motors will assist the engine, as well as improve front handling and provide All Wheel Drive.

The vehicle is expected to launch in 2022, more details will arrive in time. Until then, I'll continue to stare at the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
