McLaren is back with another expected and much-desired model. Introducing the 600LT Spider, the open-top variant of the automaker's Sports Series coupe.

As the name implies, this is part of McLaren's LongTail series, which began in the 90s. It was given the name for its lengthy back end, an aerodynamic decision. the "600" is used to indicate the trim level.

Like the coupe its based on, the 600LT Spider hosts a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. This allows it to push out 596 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. It rests comfortably behind the cabin, instead of the hood, sending power to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The long tail of the LT features a stretched rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing. Less visably obvious is the collection of carbon fiber body panels, stripped cabin, and minimized exhaust piping, all to help reduce weight. In the end, we see a dry weight of 2,859 pounds, a good 220 less than the 570S Spider. Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires are on the wheels.

All of that comes together to create one impressive sports car convertible. With a zero to 60 mph time of 2.8 seconds, it can achieve a top speed of 201 mph. The retracting roof is a hard-top, made of composite materials to reduce weight.

Orders for the 600LT Spider are available now, costing $256,500. Deliveries will begin later this year. If you're interested and can afford it, then you better nail one down quickly, they tend to sell out fast.
