Jordan Dinsmore, a 20-year-old college student managed to escape from three male attackers because she knew how to drive a manual. After the men approached her, pushed her to the ground and pushed a gun to her head, she was ordered to drive to the ATM to withdraw money. She was left in the driver's seat because none of the men knew how to drive stick.

After withdrawing the money, she was ordered to drive to one of their friend's houses so she could be sexually assaulted. She got in the car without fastening her seatbelt, hoping that the assailants wouldn't hear the chime from the car. It was at this point that she brought the car up to about 35 mph, threw it in neutral and jumped out before the car was sent rolling into an intersection.

She screamed for help and was met by a woman who called 911. Dinsmore is a criminal justice major and knew that in situations like these, you need to do whatever you can to escape. Odds are, they would have shot her. It's much better to take a hard roll on the pavement than have your life end, and Dinsmore did exactly that.

Just one more reason to learn how to drive manual.
