Every so often, true heroes come out of the woodwork to grace the world with their genius. The genius time is Entrepreneur Matt Pearson, who wants to race flying cars.

Pearson has been privately working on a manned racing drone concept for 2 years, and now he wants to bring his idea to the masses, and to the sky. This air based motorsport might become a reality as soon as 2020 with the Airspeeder World Championship. Pearson says the events would take place in the desert but could expand worldwide.

Pearson is working through Alauda Racing to build their own flying car. Currently working with regulatory officials, Pearson is trying to certify their prototype. Remote testing will occur before manned tests, so the timeframe is uncertain.

With vehicle designs akin to the style popularized in the 50's and 60's. Pearson aims to recreate the vintage Grand Prix style. If the trend of air vehicles takes off (pun intended), then he is hoping his next creation will be the "Ferrari of the sky." Pearson has already called out other companies and brands to take part of the trend. Telling them to come race them in 2020.
