Lynk & Co. is back with a new model, a compact sedan known as the 03.

The name presumably comes from being the third model unveiled so far, with the previous two, 01 and 02, being compact SUVs. The three vehicles are expected to debut at the Chengdu Auto Show this September, and hit Chinese markets later this year.

Sharing a platform and powertrain with Volvo, the 03 will feature the Geely-developed Compact Modular Architecture. Over 40 different compact cars by Volvo will share this platform, the first being the XC40. We can expect the Lynk 03 to show a lot of similarities to the Volvo S40 compact sedan.

The 03 stands 182.6 inches long and a 107.4-inch wheelbase. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 pushing 156 horsepower. There are plans for a plug-in hybrid variant using an inline-3 to be detailed at a later date.

Production for the 03 will be in Luqiao, China, though they're capable of producing 02s at Volvo's Ghent, Belguim, plant. They're most likely intending to utilize this since the 02 will be available in Europe.
