While the Tesla Model 3 is cheaper than one would expect - the base model being only $35,000 - there are other electric cars that have been able to compete with that price. One example? Chevrolet Bolt. Another? The newest Nissan Leaf, perhaps. Referring to a new report, the Leaf will start at $29,990 for the base model, meaning that it will be just about $5,000 cheaper compared to the Tesla Model 3.

With that being said, the entry-level Leaf will only have a 40kWh battery, meaning that its range will be 160 miles. Compare that with the battery of the Tesla Model 3 entry-level model, which runs for 220 miles. Not only that, but the Nissan Leaf will potentially deliver 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This is supposedly less than what the Model 3 will bring (reports suggest 258 horsepower).

There will reportedly be two more expensive versions of the 2018 Leaf: the $32,490 Leaf SV and the $36,200 Leaf SL.

Of course, this has not been confirmed, so take all of this news with a grain of salt.
