Rumors are spreading about a new 2 door Land Rover. Recently the Land Rover design head, Gerry McGovern, implied that the Land Rover will be getting a 2 door flagship vehicle due to appear at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show.

McGovern hinted towards the idea of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) building a limited set of duel doored SUV. Though he danced around a solid answer.

"I can’t say when, but there are opportunities. We have proven that with Range Rover, with the ability to offer derivations of these established vehicles, and offer them in a way that resonates with people in a relevant way."

McGovern did state that since SVO is a "business within a business," it would be easier for them to construct such a derivative. Creating it would make excellent competition to the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Bentley Continental GT.

When the 2-door Land Rover Evoque was sent to greener pastures, that left an opening for a potential new 2-door SUV. McGovern further established this by saying that while a 2-door makes sense for a larger SUV, the Evoque will most likely return with 4 doors.

Whether or not the Flagship will have 2 or 4 doors remains unconfirmed for now, though it's looking a lot like 2 to me.
