Kia is a very well-known car manufacturer and is the second-largest automaker in South Korea. Hyundai is holding on to the number one spot, however both companies are owned by the same parent company, so who cares? That being said, Hyundia is in clear water right now while the seas are getting very rough for Kia, who now has to pay $375 million in back wages to its workers.

The battle has been raging on for over six years and although $375 million is quite a large chunk of change, it is significantly less than the $1 trillion that the workers were demanding at the start of this whole ordeal. Basically, workers said in their claim that regular bonuses should be included as part of base pay to calculate overtime, compensate for unused time off, and other payments that come standard in a career.

The original claim in 2011 said that $659 billion was won by Kia in unpaid wages, and with interest, that amount was up over $1 trillion. The workers wanted their fair share of the money that they earned, and while they are getting some cash, it's nowhere close to what they wanted. At least they're getting some money out of the deal though.
