When you have a passion for something, it's incredible what you can achieve in short periods of time. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has only been around for about a month and already it has a series of upgrades available by Hennessey Performance Engineering. Upgrades that allow it to reach horsepower of up to 1,200bhp.

Hennessey is now offering the HPE1200 Supercharged package to ZR1 owners. This will power up their LT5 V8 engine to push out 1,200 bhp and 1,066 lb-ft of torque. The official numbers haven't been formally tested, but Hennessey predicts the hardcore Corvette will be able to go from 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 9.2 seconds, and achieve top speeds of 230 miles per hour.

If this is a bit too much power, Hennessey will still offer their HPE1000 and HPE 850 Supercharged packages as well. These will drop down the horsepower, as well as the cost.

Even without these customizations, the stock ZR1 still has a fair kick to it. 750hp and 715 lb-ft of torque is still enough to achieve a 0-60 of 3 seconds, and a 1/4 mile of around 10 seconds. Though these were accomplished with the 8-speed automatic, whereas the standard transmission is a 7-speed manual.

A stock Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be available this coming spring, priced at about $120,000 for the coupe and $124,000 for the convertible. No word on the pricing for the Hennessey upgrade.
