Car subscriptions services have been a growing industry as of late. BMW and Volvo both have launched their own versions of the program. Now General Motors has trademarked what looks like their own version: DriveScription.

The trademark was registered at the United States Patent and Trademark Office on August 27 under GM's name. It was first discovered by GM Authority on Tuesday. Since GM covers a variety of brands, such as Chevrolet and Buick, this could be a subscription service for any of them if not all of them.

Car subscription services offer a more convenient way of owning a car in a single expense. Instead of actually owning the vehicle, users pay a set monthly fee to rent a vehicle from the service for extended periods of time. Cars under this service have insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, and repairs handled by the auto company. The only thing the driver has to worry about is gas.

Currently, Volvo offers the most affordable option, with their Volvo CX40 crossover at $600 a month. On the other end, Porsche offers the same service, but wth all 22 of the automaker's vehicles at up to $3,000 a month.

While the service is more expensive than simply owning a vehicle, it must be popular enough for GM to start investing in it.

On a personal note: DriveScription is the worst name I've ever heard.
