Normally, if you want to see an outrageous hot rod, you need to go state-side. But Danton Arts Kustoms and Carrosserie Hervé have proven that the French are equally capable of creating a truly capable car.

The France-based shops have developed a custom Lamborghini Espada. It looks as loud as it sounds, with a lowered suspension, butchered form, and entirely exposed engine compartment.

The project started as a conversation between Alexandre Danton and Hervé. Hervé had acquired a 1970 Espada, and they wanted to celebrate the vehicle's 50th anniversary since production began in 1968.

The team followed the theme of "Espada," which is the Spanish word for the sword matadors would use. Every piece of the body was shaped to emulate the idea of a sword slice. The side panels are painted with green, white, and red stripes, an homage to the modern trach machines the original automaker is known for.

"Under the hood" sits a new Lamborghini V12 engine. The detailed specifications remain unknown, but it should be able to go toe to toe with the rest of them.

Danton Arts Kustoms has a history for producing non-American hot rods. Their past work includes a Porsche 964, a 911 Targa, and a Peugeot 201.
