Are you a fan of the Ford Fusion, Taurus, or Fiesta? Then do I have some bad news for you. The automaker has recently announced that come 2020, they're going to prune their passenger line down to just two vehicles: The Mustang and Focus Active.

The decision was confirmed on Wednesday, during their first-quarter earnings reports. This change is taking place in North America, where the market has been seeing a shift towards crossovers and SUVs.

Word was spreading that this would happen since last October, where a 100-day review of Ford's operations by then-new CEO Jim Hackett hinted at the idea. Hackett stated that the $7 billion designated for passenger car development would be better off pushed towards other vehicle classes. Ford has also expressed an increased interest in self-driving technology, which could always use more funding.

While Ford still intends to release the 2020 Focus Compact and the varient's therein, but the only version we will see stateside is the Focus Active. This is presumably so that Ford can have direct competition with Subaru's Crosstrek, which has been making a powerful push against Ford.

Interestingly enough, Lincoln, who's MKZ and Continental share platforms with Ford vehicles. Perhaps they're hoping that loyal Ford fans will shift to the various Lincoln options when they are hunting for their next sedan. Personally, I'll stick to Honda sedans.
