Well, Ford had originally planned to build their brand new version of the Focus in Mexico, but it looks like that isn't happening anymore. In order to cut costs, the motor company is moving their production over to China, reporting that they will save $1 billion in total. They also stated that no U.S. hourly employees will be losing their jobs over the move.

The United States, who wants to keep car manufacturing here, is not going to be very happy with Ford's decision to move. At the end of the day, it's Ford's decision to make and they've been doing very well in China. Last year they were able to sell 1.27 million vehicles, which was a 14% increase from 2015. With six assembly plants currently located in China, Ford is able to produce 1.4 million vehicles in the country per year.

This move will also change around some other plans. The Focus is going to start production in China mid-2018 and will be available for purchase in 2019. Once the Focus starts production, the Michigan plant will be converted to produce the Ranger pickup, and in 2020 the Michigan plant will also produce the Bronco.
