A man in Florida was killed on June 19 after refusing to take manual control of his self-driving Tesla Model S. A full investigation has been conducted and it has come to the conclusion that Tesla's autonomous software was working correctly. They were also able to dive in a little deeper and discover the real issue behind the deadly crash.

With these self-driving cars, you must be ready to put your hands on the wheel. While that may be a bummer to those of you that want to take a nap on your way home from work, that's just how it is right now. Investigators have gathered the evidence and come to the conclusion that the vehicle's operator was given 7 warnings to put his hands on the wheel before the accident. He ignored all of them.

On the front dashboard display, the driver can visually see a warning that says "Hold Steering Wheel" and on top of that, 6 audible warnings were given by the vehicle. Of the 41 minutes the car was moving, the self-driving feature was enabled for 37.5 minutes. In that span of nearly 38 minutes, the driver held the wheel for roughly 30 seconds all together.

The future of driving is coming, but it certainly is not perfect. I don't blame Tesla for this accident at all, seeing as how 7 warnings were completely ignored by the driver. Investigators also stated that if the driver was paying attention, he would have seen the truck he crashed into about 7 seconds before the collision occurred. We still have to drive and pay attention, guys.
