How far out into the ocean are you willing to drive? This new bridge in China may be a record breaker. The country has officially opened the world's longest sea-crossing bridge to the public.

In an event featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping, the southern city of Zhuhai celebrated the opening of the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai bridge. Costing a reported $20 billion in construction, this 34-mile bridge will connect Hong Kong and Macau territories.

While it may be open to the public, you can't ride along the bridge immediately. Private car owners will require a special permit to cross. Should you be lacking such a permit, you'll have to take a shuttle or hire a private driver. It will cost between $8 and $10 for a single trip.

This is officially the world's second largest bridge of any kind, taking the title away from the United States. The nine bridges below all are located in the U.S., such as the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana. The number one bridge is the Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge, stretching 102 miles long. It's also placed in China.

Imagine nothing but sea while driving for at least 30 minutes.
