It looks like Cadillac is trying to fix their current sedan issues. The main issue being, well, the sedans aren't selling. The XTS, CTS, and ATS sedans are not getting enough attention from consumers, so instead of upgrading them, they're being replaced.

We're clearly in a market right now that doesn't have as much of a demand for sedans. As people begin buying more SUVs and crossovers, the little sedans don't stand much of chance. It is because of this new marketplace shift that Cadillac has decided to replace 3 sedans with just one. The Cadillac CT5 will be the new replacement in 2019.

When talking to Reuters about their strategy, Johan de Nysschen said:

Cadillac will not directly replace the current XTS, CTS or ATS sedans when they end their life cycles in 2019. Instead, Cadillac will use a single new car called the CT5 to appeal to consumers shopping for sedans priced between $35,000 and $45,000. New versions of the CT6 sedan will be offered to customers who want a larger car starting at $50,000.

The CT5 will be built at a factory near Lansing, Michigan, that currently builds the slow-selling Cadillac ATS and CTS models. A small luxury sedan to compete with the Audi A3 will be built in the same plant.

This is pretty upsetting, especially seeing as how the CTS and ATS were really great vehicles. This changing world that we're living in has been putting a lot of car manufacturers in a crappy position, so hopefully they're all able to keep making some really kickass cars.
