The Silverstone Circuit, home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, will soon become a partial home to Aston Martin development.

The automaker has added the location to their list of racetracks where they develop future Aston Martin models. This will allow them access to a variety of circuit configurations and dynamic handling areas, as well as private access to the track. The announcement itself happened in June, though only now are they actually moving forward with their plan. The Nürburgring is another site, which they've operated with since 2008.

Aston Martin engineering chief Matt Becker believes this is a perfect decision, which will help future development.

“Every true performance car company needs a reference circuit and I can think of none more suitable than Silverstone. It is the perfect location to develop the next generation of Aston Martins.”

Looking at Aston Martin's future lineup, we can expect the Valkyrie to be the first to be developed at Silverstone. Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer has even directly stated that the hypercar will use a Silverstone lap time performance for development targets. They want it to be comparable to an LMP1 race car.

Congratulations to Silverstone Circuit for the partnership.
