It seems all we can talk about this week is the latest exploits of popular coachbuilder Ares. Can you blame us? They're working on a Ferrari 412-inspired GTC4 Lusso conversion, a Tesla Model S convertible, and a Model S shooting brake. Now they have announced the completion of a restomodded 1964 Chevrolet C2 Corvette.

It began with an original 1964 Corvette. They stripped it down to the chassis and sent the mechanicals off for restoration. While that was happening, Ares built a new chassis capable of a 525-horsepower 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a Viper Hammerhead rear differential. Now it had kick under the original fiberglass body panels.

Once fitted with its panels, the Corvette was repainted to a nice glossy black. Some changes had to be made, however, including a new hood for the engine to fit, and a modified exhaust to handle the new chassis.

The inside received an equal amount of attention, don't worry. The walls were lined with new soundproofing material, a modern air conditioning system, handcrafted door panel trim, a leather dashboard, and a state-of-the-art audio system to support Bluetooth and a 12-volt charging port. The classic feel was kept true while still giving modern amenities (like powered windows).

Sounds amazing, but what's the cost? Assuming you have your own C2 Corvette to sacrifice, this process will cost between $430,000 to $500,000, depending on the level of customization. A pretty penny for a pretty car.
